What do we know now?
There is no indication of terrorist at this time.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed as a result of a collision with a container ship. According to preliminary data, the ship lost control and rammed the bridge structure. As a result of the accident, the bridge collapsed and the container ship sank.
Between 7 and 20 people working on the bridge are believed to be in the water, as well as an unknown number of car.
Some people are in critical condition, there is a search and rescue operation with multiple states agencies. Dozens of agencies are helping at this time because they have specialized equipment needed now. The sonars detected vehicles in the water but unfortunately it is 40 feet deep and the water is current influenced. The tide is coming back in now. It is still dark outside so the rescue operators may not have seen everybody yet.
The crew of the ship are still onboard, and the mayor does not know if the ship warned, authorities didn’t talk with the pilot of the ship yet. They have not been able to confirm there is actual fuel spill from ship. Sun is just getting up now.

This is an unspeakable tragedy, people are praying, on going active research are going on. There will be a long road ahead after the rescue.

The river lead to the port of Baltimore and was opened in 1997.
Rescue services are conducting an operation to search for victims and survivors. Presumably, there are deaths, but the exact number of victims has not yet been established.

The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge dealt a significant blow to Baltimore’s transportation infrastructure. As a key toll bridge, it served as a vital road artery for the state of Maryland, connecting the eastern and western parts of the city. With an annual traffic volume of 11.5 million cars, it was a crucial thoroughfare. Furthermore, it was the sole authorized route in Baltimore for trucks transporting hazardous materials, as their passage through the two underwater tunnels was prohibited. Simple calculations reveal the magnitude of vehicle travel on the bridge: 31.5 thousand per day, 1.3 thousand per hour, and 22 per minute. Following the bridge’s collapse, traffic in the area came to a standstill, leading to severe congestion and transportation disruptions.

Obviously, at the time of the crash (even despite the night) there were quite a few cars on the bridge. Baltimore authorities do not deny this. A rescue operation is underway.

Baltimore authorities have initiated an inquiry into the accident’s cause. A dedicated committee has been established to probe the container ship’s collision with the bridge. The investigation will focus on uncovering the accident’s underlying factors and implementing measures to avert similar occurrences in the future.

After the collapse of the bridge, Baltimore authorities have intensified security measures across the city’s transportation infrastructure. They have announced the implementation of thorough inspections of all bridges and transportation structures to guarantee their safety. Additionally, authorities have urged city residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to transportation.
