Desire

Who never wanted, — maddest joy

   Remains to him unknown:

The banquet of abstemiousness

   Surpasses that of wine.

Within its hope, though yet ungrasped

   Desire’s perfect goal,

No nearer, lest reality

   Should disenthrall thy soul.
