Chers lecteurs et abonnés, cette semaine, j’ai ajouté plus de poèmes à nos pages de poésie américaine, française et russe. J’ai inclus deux nouveaux poètes. Le premier est Stéphane Mallarmé, pseudonyme d’Étienne Mallarmé. Il était un célèbre poète et critique français, notoire en tant que figure de proue du mouvement symboliste français. Ses œuvres littéraires ont préfiguré et motivé plusieurs mouvements artistiques révolutionnaires du début du 20e siècle, dont le cubisme, le futurisme, le dadaïsme et le surréalisme. La seconde, Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva, était une poétesse russe de l’Âge d’Argent, écrivaine en prose et traductrice. Elle est apparue comme l’une des poétesses russes les plus originales du 20e siècle, distincte de tout mouvement littéraire spécifique, laissant pourtant une empreinte profonde sur la littérature du 20e siècle.

Cette semaine, notre article était “Découvrez la peinture « Au-dessus de la paix éternelle » d’Isaac Levitan“. “Au-dessus de la paix éternelle” d’Isaac Levitan est une magnifique et probablement la plus célèbre peinture du célèbre artiste russe Isaac Levitan, datant de l’année 1894, qui représente un “renversement géant de l’espace aquatique du lac”, les étendues infinies ressemblant à une rivière étendue. Au-dessus du lac se trouve “une vaste étendue de ciel avec des nuages tourbillonnants qui entrent en collision les uns avec les autres”. Il ne s’agit pas d’un paysage lyrique ordinaire, pour lequel Levitan est renommé, mais plutôt d’une grande épopée, où le passé converge avec l’avenir, le ciel se dresse au-dessus de la terre, et le temps s’étire vers l’éternité. …

Dear readers and subscribers, this week as I added more poems to our American, French and Russian poetry pages, I included two new poets. The first individual is Stéphane Mallarmé, pen name of Étienne Mallarmé. He was a renowned French poet and critic, notable as a leading figure in the French symbolism movement. His literary works foreshadowed and motivated several groundbreaking artistic movements of the early 20th century, including Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, and Surrealism. The second Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva was a Russian poetess of the Silver Age, prose writer, and translator. She emerged as one of the most original Russian poets of the 20th century, distinct from any specific literary movement, yet leaving a profound imprint on 20th-century literature.

Each image is hyperlinked to its respective poetry page, and as usual, I have included the roster of new poems for each author. I trust you will discover something to appreciate.

This week our article was “Discover the painting “Over Eternal Peace” by Isaac Levitan“. “Over Eternal Peace” by Isaac Levitan. “Over Eternal Peace” is a magnificent and probably the most famous painting by renowned Russian artist Isaac Levitan, originating from the year 1894 which depicts a “giant reversal of the lake’s water space”, the endless expanses of which resemble a wide-spread river. Above the lake is “a majestic expanse of sky with swirling clouds colliding with each other”. This is no ordinary lyrical landscape, for which Levitan is renowned, but rather a grand epic, where the past converges with the future, the sky looms over the earth, and time stretches towards eternity. …

Brève analyse du poème “Le petit lièvre” d’Alexandre Blok

Le poème tourne autour du personnage adorable et attachant d’un”petit lièvre”. À travers la perspective du narrateur, l’accent est principalement mis sur les émotions et les pensées de ce charmant protagoniste.

Pendant l’été chaud qui s’était écoulé, le petit lièvre menait une vie heureuse. À travers un seul détail, l’auteur transmet l’ancien réconfort du petit lièvre – la vue du petit lièvre “amusé par les fleurs blanches.”Cependant, à l’arrivée de l’automne, les conditions d’existence du petit lièvre ont changé. La caractéristique prédominante de l’esquisse de paysage est maintenant l’humidité, qui donne le ton pour le moment présent. Cet effet ” humide “est obtenu en utilisant un vocabulaire avec des significations correspondantes telles que” humide”,” pleuré”,” pluvieux”,” humide”,” plus sec “et même” marcher sur l’eau”.L’auteur souligne les sensations tactiles désagréables qui découlent du contact avec une surface humide. De plus, le thème de l’automne est en outre associé aux motifs du froid et de la rareté de la nourriture.

Short analysis of the poem “The little hare” by Alexander Blok

The poem revolves around the adorable and endearing character of a “little hare”. Through the perspective of the narrator, the focus is primarily on delving into the emotions and thoughts of this charming protagonist.

In the warm summer that had passed, the little hare enjoyed a contented life. Through a single detail, the author conveys the little hare’s former comfort – the sight of the little hare being “amused by white flowers.” However, as autumn arrived, the conditions of the little hare’s existence changed. The predominant feature of the landscape sketch now is dampness, which sets the tone for the present moment. This “wet” effect is achieved by utilizing vocabulary with corresponding meanings such as “damp,” “cried,” “rainy,” “wet,” “drier,” and even “to walk on water.” The author emphasizes the unpleasant tactile sensations that arise from coming into contact with a wet surface. Additionally, the theme of autumn is further associated with the motifs of cold weather and scarcity of food.

Brève analyse du poème “Le commandant” d’Alexandre Pouchkine

Le poème « Le Commandant » de Pouchkine rend hommage à MB Barclay de Tolly, un personnage historique dont les contributions à la Russie pendant la guerre patriotique de 1812 font encore débat parmi les spécialistes. Malgré ses services remarquables, Barclay de Tolly se heurte à la méfiance de ses contemporains. Le scepticisme provenait de son nom de famille occidental, qui mettait en doute sa loyauté. Cependant, le poème « Commandant » sert d’ode, soulignant la valeur et le dévouement d’une personne sous-estimée par son entourage. Dears readers and subscribers, this week I translated the poem “Commander” by Alexander Pushkin which was written in 1835 and brings attention to the virtues and merits of Barclay de Tolly, shedding light on his importance in Russian history. Short analysis of the poem “Commander” by Alexander Pushkin

The poem “Commander” by A.S. Pushkin pays tribute to M.B. Barclay de Tolly, a historical figure whose contributions to Russia during the Patriotic War of 1812 are still debated among specialists. Despite his notable services, Barclay de Tolly faced distrust from his contemporaries. The skepticism stemmed from his Western surname, which cast doubt on his loyalty. However, the poem “Commander” serves as an ode, highlighting the valor and dedication of a person who was underappreciated by those around him. Pushkin’s work brings attention to the virtues and merits of Barclay de Tolly, shedding light on his importance in Russian history.

Но сверху донизу, во всю длину, кругом,	But from top to bottom, all the way around,
Своею кистию свободной и широкой	with his free and wide brush,
Ее разрисовал художник быстроокой.	the artist painted it with a quick eye.
Тут нет ни сельских нимф, ни девственных мадонн,	Here, there are neither rural nymphs, nor virgin madonnas,
Ни фавнов с чашами, ни полногрудых жен,	Neither fauns with cups, nor full-breasted wives,
Ни плясок, ни охот, — а все плащи, да шпаги,	Neither dancing, nor hunts – but all are cloaks, swords,
Да лица, полные воинственной отваги.	and faces full of warlike courage.
Толпою тесною художник поместил	In a crowd, the artist placed
Сюда начальников народных наших сил,	here the leaders of our national forces,
Покрытых славою чудесного похода	covered with the glory of a wonderful campaign

Quelques mots au sujet d’Alexandre Blok

Alexandre Alexandrovitch Blok était une figure éminente de la littérature russe au cours de l’âge d’argent. Né le 16 (28) novembre 1880 à Saint-Pétersbourg, qui faisait alors partie de l’Empire russe, Blok a apporté d’importantes contributions en tant que poète, écrivain, publiciste, dramaturge, traducteur et critique littéraire. Il a joué un rôle central dans le développement du symbolisme russe, un mouvement qui cherchait à exprimer des idées abstraites et spirituelles à travers un langage et des images poétiques.

Les œuvres de Blok sont considérées comme des classiques de la littérature russe du XXe siècle et il est largement considéré comme l’un des plus grands représentants du symbolisme russe. Sa poésie explorait souvent les thèmes de l’amour, de la spiritualité et du climat social et politique tumultueux de son époque. Le style d’écriture de Blok se caractérise par son lyrisme, son symbolisme riche et son exploration introspective de la condition humaine.

Tragiquement, la vie de Blok fut écourtée et il décéda le 7 août 1921 à Petrograd, qui devint plus tard connue sous le nom de Leningrad et s’appelle maintenant Saint-Pétersbourg (RSFSR). Malgré sa mort prématurée, les contributions d’Alexandre Blok à la littérature russe continuent d’influencer et d’inspirer des générations de lecteurs et d’écrivains.

Born on November 16, (28) 1880, in St. Petersburg, which was then part of the Russian Empire, Blok made significant contributions as a poet, writer, publicist, playwright, translator, and literary critic. He played a pivotal role in the development of Russian symbolism, a movement that sought to express abstract and spiritual ideas through poetic language and imagery.

Blok’s works are considered classics of Russian literature in the 20th century, and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest representatives of Russian symbolism. His poetry often explored themes of love, spirituality, and the tumultuous social and political climate of his time. Blok’s writing style was characterized by its lyricism, rich symbolism, and introspective exploration of the human condition.

Tragically, Blok’s life was cut short, and he passed away on August 7, 1921, in Petrograd, which later became known as Leningrad and is now called St. Petersburg (RSFSR). Despite his premature death, Alexander Blok’s contributions to Russian literature continue to influence and inspire generations of readers and writers.

Только б он пришел прославленный,	If only he would come back glorified,
Только б радость перенесть!	Only it would be a joy to endure!
Вот, в доспехе ослепительном,	Here, in dazzling armor,
Слышно, ходит сын во мгле,	You can hear the son walking in the darkness,
Дух свой предал небожителям,	He delivered his spirit to the inhabitants of heaven,
Сердце — матери-земле.	His Heart to mother earth.

Had there been no sharp subtraction	S’il n’y avait pas eu de soustraction brutale
From the early sum,	Dès le début de la somme,
Not an acre or a caption	Pas un acre ni une légende
Where was once a room,	Où était autrefois une pièce,

Not a mention, whose small pebble	Pas une mention, dont le petit caillou
