Chers lecteurs et abonnés, cette semaine, j’ai traduit le poème “Le Commandant” d’Alexandre Pouchkine qui a été écrit en 1835 et attire l’attention sur les vertus et les mérites de Barclay de Tolly, mettant en lumière son importance dans l’histoire russe. Pour compléter le poème, j’ai ajouté M.B. Barclay de Tolly. Dessin par Pierre Fiodorovitch Borel et la peinture “Conseil militaire à Fili” par Alexeï Danilovitch Kivchenko qui sera présenté dans notre prochain post.

Brève analyse du poème “Le commandant” d’Alexandre Pouchkine

Le poème « Le Commandant » de Pouchkine rend hommage à MB Barclay de Tolly, un personnage historique dont les contributions à la Russie pendant la guerre patriotique de 1812 font encore débat parmi les spécialistes. Malgré ses services remarquables, Barclay de Tolly se heurte à la méfiance de ses contemporains. Le scepticisme provenait de son nom de famille occidental, qui mettait en doute sa loyauté. Cependant, le poème « Commandant » sert d’ode, soulignant la valeur et le dévouement d’une personne sous-estimée par son entourage. L’œuvre de Pouchkine attire l’attention sur les vertus et les mérites de Barclay de Tolly, mettant en lumière son importance dans l’histoire de la Russie.

Тут нет ни сельских нимф, ни девственных мадонн,	Il n’y a pas ici de nymphes rurales ni de vierges madones,
Ни фавнов с чашами, ни полногрудых жен,	Pas de faunes avec des tasses, ni de femmes aux gros seins,

Dears readers and subscribers, this week I translated the poem “Commander” by Alexander Pushkin which was written in 1835 and brings attention to the virtues and merits of Barclay de Tolly, shedding light on his importance in Russian history. To complement the poem I added M.B. Barclay de Tolly. Drawing by Pyotr Fyodorovich Borel and the painting “Military Council in Fili” by Aleksey Danilovich Kivshenko which will be presented in our next post.

Short analysis of the poem “Commander” by Alexander Pushkin

The poem “Commander” by A.S. Pushkin pays tribute to M.B. Barclay de Tolly, a historical figure whose contributions to Russia during the Patriotic War of 1812 are still debated among specialists. Despite his notable services, Barclay de Tolly faced distrust from his contemporaries. The skepticism stemmed from his Western surname, which cast doubt on his loyalty. However, the poem “Commander” serves as an ode, highlighting the valor and dedication of a person who was underappreciated by those around him. Pushkin’s work brings attention to the virtues and merits of Barclay de Tolly, shedding light on his importance in Russian history.

Но сверху донизу, во всю длину, кругом,	But from top to bottom, all the way around,
Своею кистию свободной и широкой	with his free and wide brush,
Ее разрисовал художник быстроокой.	the artist painted it with a quick eye.
Тут нет ни сельских нимф, ни девственных мадонн,	Here, there are neither rural nymphs, nor virgin madonnas,
Ни фавнов с чашами, ни полногрудых жен,	Neither fauns with cups, nor full-breasted wives,
Ни плясок, ни охот, — а все плащи, да шпаги,	Neither dancing, nor hunts – but all are cloaks, swords,
Да лица, полные воинственной отваги.	and faces full of warlike courage.
Толпою тесною художник поместил	In a crowd, the artist placed
Сюда начальников народных наших сил,	here the leaders of our national forces,
Покрытых славою чудесного похода	covered with the glory of a wonderful campaign

Brève analyse du poème “Incantation” d’Alexandre Pouchkine

Le poème “Incantation” d’Alexandre Sergueïevitch Pouchkine a été écrit en 1830, pendant l’automne Boldino et est l’une des œuvres les plus célèbres des paroles d’amour du poète. Le poème “Incantation” est plein de mélancolie vivante, incitant la bien-aimée à revenir et maudissant tout ce qui l’a amenée à la tombe. Un appel à l’au-delà jette une ombre de mysticisme sur les mots, les plongeant dans les sensations “sombres” de la “folie”romantique. L’idée principale du poème est que l’amour est plus long que la vie.

Short analysis of the poem “The spell” by Alexander Pushkin

The poem “Spell” by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin was written in 1830, during the Boldino autumn and is one of the most famous works in the poet’s love lyrics. The poem “The Spell” is full of living melancholy, conjuring the beloved to return and cursing everything that brought her to the grave. An appeal to the afterlife casts a shadow of mysticism on the words, immersing them in the “dark” sensations of romantic “madness”. The main idea of the poem is that love is longer than life.

Alexandre Pouchkine a écrit le poème “Confession” en 1826 pour Alexandra, la fille adoptive de P. Osipova, mais il ne lui a jamais donné le poème et il n’a pas été publié de son vivant.

Pouchkine tombait souvent amoureux et parfois, il devait souffrir d’un amour non partagé, ce qu’il décrit dans ce poème. Dans “Confession” , le poète comprend le désespoir de son amour, décrivant ses sentiments comme une “stupidité malheureuse”

Short analysis of the poem “Confession” by Alexander Pushkin

Alexander Pushkin wrote the poem “Confession” in 1826 for Alexandra, the adopted daughter of P. Osipova but he never gave her the poem and it was not published during his lifetime.

Pushkin often fell in love and sometimes, he had to suffer from unrequited love which is what he describes in this poem. In “Confession”, the poet undestands the hopelessness of his love, describing his feelings as “unhappy stupidity”

Уже наигрывал я слабыми перстами	Je jouais avec des doigts tendres :

В младенчестве моем она меня любила	In the days of my youth she was fond of me,
И семиствольную цевницу мне вручила.	And the seven-stemmed flute she handed me.
Она внимала мне с улыбкой — и слегка,	To me with smile she listened; and already gently
По звонким скважинам пустого тростника,	Along the openings echoing of the woods
Уже наигрывал я слабыми перстами	Was playing I with fingers tender:
И гимны важные, внушенные богами,	Both hymns solemn, god-inspired
И песни мирные фригийских пастухов.	And peaceful song of Phrygian shepherd.
С утра до вечера в немой тени дубов	From morn till night in oak’s dumb shadow
Прилежно я внимал урокам девы тайной,	To the strange maid’s teaching intent I listened;
И, радуя меня наградою случайной,	And with sparing reward me gladdening
Откинув локоны от милого чела,	Tossing back her curls from her forehead dear,
Сама из рук моих свирель она брала.	From my hands the flute herself she took.
Тростник был оживлен божественным дыханьем	Now filled the wood was with breath divine
И сердце наполнял святым очарованьем.	And the heart with holy enchantment filled.
