Dear readers and subscribers, I am overjoyed to share that this week has been remarkably inspiring as I immersed myself in the realm of American, French, and Russian poetry, enhancing our poetry sections with more poets and their enthralling works. Did you know that the unforgettable lines, “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” immortalized on a bronze plaque at the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal, and serving as a timeless symbol of hope and inclusion were penned by Emma Lazarus? The rich tapestry of emotions and experiences woven into the verses has left me spellbound, and it is a true delight to embark on this poetic journey with all of you. Let’s now explore the captivating world of our three poets.

Our first new poet, Velimir Khlebnikov, (1885-1922) whose real name is Viktor Vladimirovich Khlebnikov, is celebrated as a pioneering figure in Russian futurism. His groundbreaking work in reforming poetic language and fearless experimentation with word creation set him apart as a poet. Notably, he delved into morphological abstruseness, making him a distinct presence in Russian poetry. Roman Yakobson, who had a personal acquaintance with Khlebnikov, held him in the highest regard, referring to him as “the greatest world poet of the current twentieth century.” Khlebnikov’s contributions continue to inspire and captivate readers worldwide.

François-René, Vicomte de Chateaubriand (1768-1848), our second poet, emerged as a beacon of creativity during his time. A beacon of inspiration, he is regarded as a trailblazer of French Romanticism and a luminary in French literature. As a French writer, memoirist, and politician, his legacy continues to shine brightly in the literary world.

Our last poet, Emma Lazarus (1849-1887) was an inspiring American author celebrated for her poetry, prose, and translations, as well as her passionate activism for Jewish and Georgist causes. Her most renowned work, the sonnet “The New Colossus,” written in 1883, was a powerful response to the Statue of Liberty. Its iconic lines, “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” are immortalized on a bronze plaque at the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal, serving as a timeless symbol of hope and inclusion.

Chers lecteurs et abonnés, cette semaine a été particulièrement revigorante alors que je continue à plonger dans les univers de la poésie américaine, française, et russe. J’ai été captivé par la riche palette d’émotions et d’expériences tissées dans les vers, et c’est vraiment un plaisir d’explorer et de partager ce voyage poétique avec vous.

J’ai inclus le nouveau poète et dramaturge français Alfred de Musset qui était largement estimé comme l’un des écrivains romantiques les plus novateurs, produisant plusieurs chefs-d’œuvre littéraires intemporels. Il dégageait du talent et du charisme jusqu’à ce qu’il vive une histoire d’amour transformative avec un écrivain français, qui l’a laissé cœur brisé et désolé. Cette période de séparation a inspiré certaines de ses œuvres les plus merveilleuses, qui ont été très appréciées par ses contemporains et ses admirateurs.

Mais j’ai aussi inclus deux nouveaux poètes russes : Vladimir Vladimirovitch Maïakovski qui est un célèbre poète soviétique du XXe siècle connu comme un représentant éminent du futurisme et un innovateur en littérature, et Valeri Iakovlevitch Brioussov qui est à juste titre considéré comme le fondateur du symbolisme russe et le précurseur de l’acméisme.

Dear readers and subscribers, this week has been particularly invigorating as I continued to dive into the realms of American. French, and Russian poetry. I was captivated by the rich tapestry of emotions and experiences woven into the verses, and it is truly a delight to explore and share this poetic journey with you.

I included the new french poet and dramatist Alfred de Musset who was widely esteemed as one of the pioneering Romantic writers, producing several timeless literary masterpieces. He exuded talent and charisma until he experienced a transformative love affair with a French writer, which left him heartbroken and desolate. This period of separation inspired some of his most marvelous works, which were highly lauded by his contemporaries and admirers.

But I also included two new Russian poets: Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky who is a famous Soviet poet of the 20th century known as a prominent representative of futurism and an innovator in literature, and Valery Yakovlevich Bryusov who is rightfully considered the founder of Russian symbolism and the forerunner of Acmeism.

In sharing these poetic treasures with you, I hope to kindle a love for poetry in diverse languages and to celebrate the incredible richness of world literature. Thank you for joining me on this enriching literary journey. I hope you’ll find something to enjoy.
