Dear beloved readers and subscribers,
Our baby crow is doing wonderfully and growing stronger by the day. She has been spreading his wings and taking flight more confidently with each passing day. Interestingly, she has developed a charming habit of perching on my shoulder and adamantly refuses to touch the ground or walk on any surface besides her perches. We’ll have a post with video about out growing baby who begins to play on Tuesday.

We are also elated to share that this week has brought an abundance of new poetry to our American, French, and Russian poetry pages. Furthermore, we are thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our collection of French painters, Paul Cézanne, featuring his remarkable painting “Card Players.”

Paul Cézanne (1839 – 1906) is celebrated as a visionary French Post-Impressionist painter whose groundbreaking work transformed the art world and left an enduring impact on avant-garde artistic movements in the early 20th century. Cézanne is widely acclaimed for bridging the gap between late 19th-century Impressionism and the emergence of Cubism in the early 20th century.

C’est avec plaisir que je vous présente nos trois nouveaux poètes talentueux ! Ces ajouts récents enrichissent non seulement notre collection, mais offrent également une gamme diverse et captivante de styles et de voix, reflétant la diversité de l’expression poétique à travers différents paysages culturels. Des vers stimulants aux récits évocateurs, il y en a pour tous les amateurs de poésie. Je suis enchantée de voir notre communauté de poètes et d’amateurs de poésie grandir, favorisant un espace où la créativité ne connaît pas de frontières. Continuons à célébrer l’art de la poésie et sa capacité à nous unir à travers les frontières et les langues.

Paul Laurence Dunbar était un poète, romancier et nouvelliste américain très estimé de 1872 à 1906. Il a commencé à écrire à un jeune âge et a été reconnu pour son talent exceptionnel. Dunbar a été l’un des premiers écrivains afro-américains à obtenir une reconnaissance internationale. En plus de la poésie, il a fait des contributions remarquables aux nouvelles et aux romans. Il a également écrit les paroles de la comédie musicale In Dahomey en 1903, qui a été la première comédie musicale entièrement afro-américaine à être jouée sur Broadway à New York.

Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893) figure comme une personnalité éminente de la littérature française du XIXe siècle, reconnu pour sa maîtrise de la nouvelle. Il est célébré comme un représentant de l’école naturaliste, décrivant avec habileté les vies humaines, les destinées et les forces sociales dans une perspective désillusionnée et souvent pessimiste.

Constantin Nikolaïevitch Batiouchkov (1787-1855) est une figure pivot en littérature russe, renommé en tant que poète et influenceur majeur de la tradition romantique au début du XIXe siècle. Souvent considéré comme le précurseur littéraire d’A. S. Pouchkine, ses contributions s’étendaient également à la satire, à la prose et à la traduction. De plus, il était membre de la société d’Arzamas à partir de 1815, adoptant le nom d’Achille.

It’s my pleasure to introduce our three talented new poets! These fresh additions not only enrich our collection but also offer a diverse and captivating range of styles and voices, reflecting the breadth of poetic expression across different cultural landscapes. From thought-provoking verses to evocative narratives, there’s something for every poetry enthusiast to explore. I’m thrilled to witness our community of poets and poetry lovers grow, fostering a space where creativity knows no boundaries. Let’s continue to celebrate the art of poetry and its ability to unite us across borders and languages.

Paul Laurence Dunbar was a highly regarded American poet, novelist, and short story writer from 1872 to 1906. He started writing at a young age and gained recognition for his exceptional talent. Dunbar was one of the first African-American writers to achieve international acclaim. In addition to poetry, he made notable contributions to short stories and novels. He also wrote the lyrics for the musical comedy In Dahomey in 1903, which was the first all-African-American musical to be performed on Broadway in New York.

Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893) stands as a prominent figure in 19th-century French literature, renowned for his mastery of the short story. He is celebrated as a representative of the naturalist school, skillfully portraying human lives, destinies, and social forces in a disillusioned and often pessimistic light.

Konstantin Nikolaevich Batyushkov (1787-1855) stands as a pivotal figure in Russian literature, renowned as a poet and a key influencer of the romantic tradition during the early 19th century. Often regarded as the literary predecessor of A. S. Pushkin, his contributions also extended to satire, prose, and translation. Additionally, he was a member of the Arzamas society from 1815, adopting the name Achilles.
